Against the sorrowful backdrop of this past weekend's tragic events, we did cover the week's Cougar news, including a pair of wins for Cougar men's basketball. We also talked a bonkers AAC race, and how this coming week's games will shine light on the rest of said race.

Plus Cougar women's hoops continued it's "one step forward, one step back" pattern, and Cougar track was in Lubbock putting up all kinds of crazy performances. And swimming avenged a loss to an SEC opponent!

Houston Cougar men's basketball made a statement this week, stunning Wichita State on the road after taking care of business against SMU at home. We're talking what worked this week, and reevaluating the rest of the season with Houston suddenly the conference favorite(?).

Plus women's hoops got a needed win, and is heading into a crucial week of the season. And track & field had some big performances! And swimming has a big-time meet coming up!

We got news this week and most of it was quite... not great. Leading off, we try and be circumspect about the Houston Cougar career of D'Eriq King as he announced that he would pursuing a graduate transfer at another institution. Of course, we also address what this means going forward for Clayton Tune and the 2020 Cougar team.

Cougar men's basketball dropped a frustrating game in Tulsa and we talk about that, along with a tough road trip that awaits this weekend in Wichita. The Cougar women's shooty hoopers faced the human wood chipper of UConn and get a more manageable AAC opponent this weekend.

PLUS, TRACK AND TENNIS!!!!

It didn't sneak up on us, but a change is in the air now that its here. That's right, AAC play has kicked off for Cougar men's and women's basketball. The Cougar men's shooty hoopers opened their conference account by beating a game UCF team at the Fertitta Center and outlasting the Temple Owls on the road.

Not to be overlooked the women's shooty hoopers split a pair home conference games with strong positives and lingering flaws on display in roughly equal parts, as that young team figures out who they are in 2020.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

- Cougar alums in the NFL playoffs

- A closer look at the absurd rebounding ability of Cougar men's basketball

- Another stat deep dive on the absurd 2019 Cougar football schedule, with the 2019 AAC season in the books
